Commonly known as "function keys", F1 through F12 may have a variety of different uses or no use at all. Depending on the installed operating system and the software program currently open will change how each of these keys operate. A program is capable of not only using each of the function keys, but also combining the function keys with the ALT or CTRL key, for example, Microsoft Windows users can press ALT + F4 to close the program currently active.                        

                      

Below is a short-listing of some of the common functions of the functions keys on computers running Microsoft Windows. As mentioned above not all programs support function keys and may perform different tasks then those mentioned below. F1

·         Almost always used as the help key, almost every program will open the help screen when this key is pressed.

·         Enter CMOS Setup.

·         Windows Key + F1 would open the Microsoft Windows help and support center.

·         Open the Task Pane.

F2

·         In Windows renames a highlighted icon, file, or folder in all versions of Windows.

·         Alt + Ctrl + F2 opens document window in Microsoft Word.

·         Ctrl + F2 displays the print preview window in Microsoft Word.

·         Enter CMOS Setup.

F3

Often opens a search feature for many programs including Microsoft Windows when at the Windows Desktop..

·         In MS-DOS or Windows command line F3 will repeat the last command.

·         Shift + F3 will change the text in Microsoft Word from upper to lower case or a capital letter at the beginning of every word.

·         Windows Key + F3 opens the Advanced find window in Microsoft Outlook.

F4

·         Open find window in Windows 95 to XP.

·         Open the address bar in Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer.

·         Repeat the last action performed (Word 2000+)

·         Alt + F4 will close the program window currently active in Microsoft Windows.

·         Ctrl + F4 will close the open window within the current active window in Microsoft Windows.

F5

·         In all modern Internet browsers pressing F5 will refresh or reload the page or document window.

·         Open the find, replace, and go to window in Microsoft Word.

·         Starts a slideshow in PowerPoint.

F6

·         Move the cursor to the Address bar in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and most other Internet browsers.

·         Ctrl + Shift + F6 opens to another open Microsoft Word document.

F7

·         Commonly used to spell check and grammar check a document in Microsoft programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, etc.

·         Shift + F7 runs a Thesaurus check on the word highlighted.

·         Turns on Caret browsing in Mozilla Firefox.

F8

·         Function key used to enter the Windows startup menu, commonly used to access Windows Safe Mode.

F9

·         Opens the Measurements toolbar in Quark 5.0.

F10

·         In Microsoft Windows activates the menu bar of an open application.

·         Shift + F10 is the same as right-clicking on a highlighted icon, file, or Internet link.

·         Access the hidden recovery partition on HP and Sony computers.

F11

·         Full-screen mode in all modern Internet browsers.

What is Hard Drive ?

 

Alternatively referred to as a hard disk drive and abbreviated as HD or HDD, the hard drive is the computer's main storage media device that permanently stores all data on the computer. The hard drive was first introduced on September 13, 1956 and consists of one or more hard drive platters inside of air sealed casing. Most computer hard drives are in an internal drive bay at the front of the computer and connect to the motherboard using either ATA, SCSI, or a SATA cable and power cable. Below, is an illustration of what the inside of a hard drive looks like for a desktop and laptop hard drive.

As can be seen in the above picture, the desktop hard drive has six components: the head actuator, read/write actuator arm, read/write head, spindle, and platter. On the back of a hard drive is a circuit board called the disk controller.

How is data read and stored on a hard drive?

Data sent to and from the hard drive is interpreted by the disk controller, which tells the hard drive what to do and how to move the components within the drive. When the operating system needs to read or write information, it examines the hard drives File Allocation Table (FAT) to determine file location and available areas. Once this has been determined, the disk controller instructs the actuator to move the read/write arm and align the read/write head. Because files are often scattered throughout the platter, the head will often need to move to several different locations to access all information.

All information stored on a traditional hard drive, like the above example, is done magnetically. After completing the above steps, if the computer needs to read information from the hard drive it would read the magnetic polarities on the platter. One side of the magnetic polarity is 0 and the other is 1, reading this as binary data the computer can understand what the data is on the platter. For the computer to write information to the platter, the read/write head aligns the magnetic polarities, writing 0's and 1's that can be read later.

External and Internal hard drives

Although most hard drives are internal hard drives, many users also use external hard drives to backup data on their computer and expand the total amount of space available to them. External drives are often stored in an enclosure that helps protect the drive and allow it to interface with the computer, usually over USB or eSATA. A great example of a backup external device that supports multiple hard drives is the Drobo.

External hard drives come in many shapes and sizes. Some are large, about the size of a book, while others are about the size of a cell phone. External hard drives can be very useful for backing up important data and taking with you on the go. They can store a lot of information, including music and movies.

१) सर्वप्रथम कम्प्युटरको reg. पेजमा जानुहोस् त्यसको लागि start अनि run मा क्लिक गरेर त्यहा regedit टाईप गर्नुहोस् र enter गर्नुहोस् ।

२) तलको location सम्म जानुहोस्

३) दाँया तिरको OOBETimer मा डबल क्लिक गर्नुहोस् ।

४) त्यहा भएका value Data मा केही हेरफेर गर्नुहोस्, केही letter
हटाउनुहोस् केही थप्नुहोस्
आफ्नो ईच्छा अनुसार ( जे होस् त्यहा भएको data लाई केही चेन्ज गर्नुहोस् )

५) ओके गर्नुहोस् र regedit लाई बन्द गरिदिनुहोस् ।

६) फेरी start अनि run मा जानुहोस् र त्यहा यो कपि गरेर पेस्ट गर्नुहोस्

१) कम्प्युटरको Task manager खोल्नुहोस् त्यसको लागि Ctrl+Alt+Delete कि press गर्नुहोस् ।

२) त्यहा procress tab मा जानुहोस् र त्यहा WgaTray.exe लाई क्लिक गरेर hightlight गर्नुहोस् र End procress गरिदिनुहोस् ।

३) अब कम्प्युटरलाई restart गर्नुहोस् र safemode मा खोल्नुहोस्।

( त्यसको लागि restart गरी सकेपछि boot हुने बेलामा keyboard को f8
कि press गर्नुहोस् र safemode लाई छानेर enter गर्नुहोस् । )

४) अब C:\widnows\system32
मा गएर WgaTray.exe लाई खोजेर डिलिट गरिदिनुहोस् ।

५) कम्प्युटरको reg. पेज खोल्नुहोस्( start अनि run मा गएर regedit टाईप गरेर Enter गर्नुहोस् । )

६) यो location सम्म जानुहोस्

Windows Xp को लागी :

१. सबैभन्दा पहिला "Run" file खोल्नुहोस त्यसको लागी Win logo+R एकैसाथ थिच्दा पनि हुन्छ अथवा Start > Run मा Click गर्नुहोस र त्यस खुलेको Text Box मा "Regedit" type गरी "Ok" or enter गर्नुहोस

1st Step :-
१) C-Phone Prepaid सेटमा Internet Active गर्न तलको Direction Follow गर्नुस् ।

Menu > 0412 > सेटमा UART देखाएपछि > Store

2nd Step :-
१) Phone,Data Cable र Computer जोड्नुस् ।

२) अब कम्प्यूटरमा तलको Direction Follow गर्नुस् ।

Start > Setting > Control Pannel > Phone & Modem > Modem मा Click गरी Add गर्ने

३) Don't Detect My Modem मा Click गरी Next गर्नुस् ।

४) त्यसपछि Standard 33600 लाई Highlight गरी Next गर्नुस् ।

५) अब COM 1 लाई Highlight गरी Finished/OK गर्नुस् ।

3rd Step :-
१) तलको Direction Follow गर्नुस् ।

My Network Place (Right Mouse Click) > Properties > Creat New Connection > Next > Next > अब ' Set up my connection manually ' मा टिक् (Tick) लगाई Next गर्नुस् > Next > Next

२) Phone Number to Dial मा #777 राख्नुस् र Next गर्नुस् ।

३) Username र Password मा तपाईको CDMA नंबर राखि OK गर्नुस् ।

अब Dial Up Connection को आउनेछ र त्यहाँ मा गर्नुस् ।अब Verifying Username & Password भन्दै तपाईको Internet Active हुन्छ र Internet को मज्जा लिन सक्नुहुनेछ ।
